Anastasia Sakellarios, 84, of Onset, MA and formerly of Newton, MA passed into eternal life on Friday, August 11, 2017 surrounded by the care and loving comfort of her family.  She was born and raised in Nicosia, Cyprus and later emigrated to Rhodesia (Zimbabwe) in Southern Africa.  There, she met and married her beloved husband, Basil, and raised their three children.  In 1979, the family moved to the United States and took up residence in Newton, MA, working at the family’s business on Commonwealth Avenue.

She was a talented seamstress, a gifted singer who loved music, and an excellent cook, but she was, above all, a most-loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend who was loved in return by all who knew her.

She was a steward of St. George Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Springfield, MA.  She leaves her husband, Basil, and her three children: Marianna Doulamis and her husband, Peter, of Nashua, NH; her daughter, Penny Stamas and her husband, Fr. Christopher, of Longmeadow, MA; and her son, Andy Sakellarios and his wife, Mary, of Andover, MA.  She leaves her sister, Athena Vekris of Cyprus.  She also leaves behind nine grandchildren whom she adored:  Giannis Doulamis, Theodora Esparza and her husband, Will, and Anastasia Doulamis, Christiana and Elaina Stamas, and Carly, Maggie, Lindsay, and Luke Sakellarios, and one great-grandchild, Mathias Esparza of Los Angeles, CA.  She was predeceased by her beloved parents and three siblings.

Her family would like to thank her caregivers at Sippican Healthcare Center in Marion, MA, who loved her and treated her like their own family.

Calling hours will be on Monday, August 14, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. at St. Philip Greek Orthodox Church, 500 West Hollis Street, Nashua, NH followed by her funeral service at 11 a.m.  Her burial will immediately follow the service at Woodlawn Cemetery in Nashua.
