Our beloved father, Edmund J. Kopka, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family one week shy of his 95th birthday.  He died October 9, 2016 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH. 
Ed was born On October 16, 1921, the son of John and Josephine “Sophie” (Garcek) Kopka.  Edmund was the beloved husband of the late Elizabeth (Hagerty) Kopka who died October 19, 2006.

Ed was a 1939 graduate of Nashua High School.  During WWII, he proudly and honorably served as a soldier in the United States Army from 1940 to 1944.  As a radio operator, he saw action in the battle of Normandy, Northern France, Ardenne’s and Rhineland.  He was decorated with a Purple Heart, Bronze Star and Combat Infantry Badge with 4 stars.

Ed worked as a production manager for Ingersol Rand for 30 years prior to his retirement.  He spent time as a member of the Royal Arcanum Society.  He also enjoyed all sports and his Monday night golf league, but most of all, he cherished time with his family.  He was an avid card player right to the end.  Ed was predeceased by his nine brothers and sisters.

            Edmund is survived by his six children: Bruce Kopka and his wife Claire of Hudson, FL, Gary Kopka and his wife Diane of Hollis, NH, Steve “Sam” Kopka and his wife Theresa of Hudson, NH. Gail Reed and her husband James of Nashua, NH, Joyce Drown and her husband Peter of Nashua, NH, and Donna Kopka of Hudson, NH

Sixteen grandchildren: Sean Kopka, Meghan Kopka, Matthew Kopka, Melissa Ferrigno, Myles Kopka, Jayme DeGooyer, Jason Reed, Tracey Sullivan, Jeffrey Drown, Holly Drown, Rebecca Eichorst, Michael Cardin, Ashley Cardin, Keila Keene, Shanna Keene and Christopher Keene.

Six great-grandchildren; Deloni, Madison, Jaden, Katherine, Taylor and Tommy

Two sisters-in-law; Angeline Kopka and Eleanor Hagerty, both of Nashua, NH

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH for the wonderful care Ed received and the support they gave the family.  It truly means so much at this emotional time.

SERVICES:  Visiting hours will be held on Friday October 14, 2016 from 5 to 8 PM in the Anctil-Rochette & Son Funeral Home, 21 Kinsley Street Nashua.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday October 15, 2016 in St. Christopher Church, 62 Manchester Street Nashua, at 10:00 AM.  Burial with military honors will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Home Health and Hospice c/o Development, 7 Executive Park Dr., Merrimack, NH 03054.
