NASHUA- Gaetan R. Roy, 80, died peacefully Friday morning, March 23, 2018 at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House in Merrimack; surrounded by his loving family. Gaetan was the beloved husband of the late Mariette (Fecteau) Roy.
Gaetan was born in St. Victor, Quebec, Canada on May 19, 1937 and was the son of the late Gedeon and Agathe Roy.
For many years, he worked for Save on Wall in Hudson, New Hampshire and also was self-employed until his retirement. He was a member of the Carpenter Union Local #26 in Lynn, MA. In his younger years, Gaetan was employed as a lumberjack in Canada.
He came to this country in 1958 and started working as a sheetrocker in Hartford, CT.
He was also a member of Club National and a communicant. of St. Joseph Parish in Nashua. Gaetan had a passion for carpentry and he built his own home as well as remodeled many others He also had a love of the outdoors and enjoyed gardening as well as splitting wood. Above all, his most cherished time was spent with his family.
Gaetan is survived by his daughter, Kathleen Provencher of Nashua and his son Steve Roy and his wife Monica of Nashua; his five grandchildren, Celine Roy, Brian Provencher Jr., Isabel Roy, Nicole Provencher, and Gabriella Roy. He is also survived by his sister Ghislaine Roy of St. George, Canada and his brother Norman Roy of Nashua; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Gaetan was predeceased by his sister, Lily (Roy) Vachon.
Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on TUESDAY, March 27th from 2 until 4 PM and 7 until 9 PM at ANCTIL-ROCHETTE & SON FUNERAL HOME, 21 Kinsley Street, Nashua. His Funeral will be held on WEDNESDAY, March 28th at 10 AM at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 777 W Hollis Street, Nashua, NH. His burial will follow in St. Louis Cemetery, Nashua.
