Obituary for Gary Lee White

February 17, 1964 - December 23, 2017

NASHUA - Gary Lee White, 53, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, December 23, 2017.

Son of the late Joseph and Lynn (Fawcett) White, Gary was born on February 17, 1964 in Atlanta, GA. At age 10, Gary moved with his family to Sudbury, MA, and then to Amherst, NH. He graduated from Milford Area High School and attended Franklin Pierce College in Rindge, NH where he made some of his lifelong best friends. Gary was a hardworker and had several jobs over the years, most recently being employed by Benchmark Electronics in Nashua.

Gary played Little League Baseball and Pop Warner Football. He later developed a talent for skiing, and skied in the Alps with friends after college.  He was also an avid fisherman and outdoorsman, particularly enjoying his time at the family’s lake house in Madison, NH. He went there every chance he got and was very generous about sharing it with friends.

He was loved by all animals; especially dogs. At any gathering, the dogs would be at his side. He had a keen interest and was incredibly knowledgeable about everything in nature. Without hesitation, he could tell you the name, habitat and interesting facts about every single bird or animal. He had the same talent with movie and music trivia. An avid reader, Gary was more knowledgeable than most on a wide range of subjects.

Gary was a proud and active member of the Nashua Elks Lodge, and an avid Grateful Dead fan. He was also a huge sports fan, never missing an opportunity to watch a sporting event. He loved the New England Patriots, but also had a soft spot for the Pittsburgh Steelers since he had played for the Steelers many years ago in youth football.

Gary was happiest spending time with friends and family -- having a drink, volunteering with the Elks, playing cards or darts, sharing a holiday meal or celebrating a wedding, graduation or other milestone. His friends meant the world to him. He was also a wonderful uncle; always making the effort to visit and bringing the perfect gifts to his niece and nephew.

Gary was truly a gentle soul and will be missed by all who were blessed to know him.

He is survived by his brother Greg White and his wife, Jennifer, and their children Abigail and Caleb of Mansfield, MA; his uncle, James Fawcett, of Palmetto, FL; his step-mother, Myrna White, of Fitzgerald, GA; and various cousins and relatives.

A “Celebration of Life” will be held at Nashua Elks Lodge on Saturday, January 20, 2018. All friends are invited to attend.
