OBITUARY-- GLORIA JEAN ROVER

Nashua- Gloria Jean Jones Rover, 71, died peacefully, Sunday, November 5, 2017 at St. Joseph Hospital. She was surrounded by her loving family. 

Gloria was born in East Meadow, Long Island, New York on February 7, 1946 and was the daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine (Griffin) Jones. She was the first born to that union. She attended Arrandale Elementary School, Great Neck North Senior High School, until her graduation in 1964 at which time she enrolled in Tuskegee University for one year to study business administration and sociology. 

She married Dr. Billy Rover, her childhood sweetheart after he finished his under graduate study and she then enrolled in Middlesex Community College to pursue an RN nursing degree but left when she became pregnant with her son, Brett. She also attended Cecil Community College and Mt. Wachusetts Community College and she received her Executive Secretarial Degree from Adelphi Business School. 

Her career included working at Long Island Jewish Hospital as a secretary clerk typist, the Prudential Insurance Company of America in Boston as a legal stenographer, as well as the United State Army and Security Agency as a secretary clerk stenographer. She was also employed for Middlesex Community College as a secretary clerk typist, Honeywell Inc, Digital Equipment Corporation as an engineering Administrative Assistant. 

Lastly, she was employed with the FAA, (Federal Aviation Administration), which then lead to her latest employment with TSA - Transportation Security Administration as a Payroll Administrator with concluded over 20 years of Government service. 

Gloria enjoyed singing especially opera music, interior decorating, and cooking. She had a fabulous sense of humor and loved to make others laugh. She also enjoyed playing piano and violin. She  will be forever remembered for her Famous Ambrosia and her love of the colors, teal and pink. Above all her most cherished time was spent with loving family. 

She was very involved and volunteered much of her time to Church outreach. She was a member of the New Fellowship Baptist Church, Whole Armor International Church, and the New England Pentecostal Church. She was also a member of the OBU (Outreach for Black Unity).

She is survived by her son, Brett C. Rover and his Fiancé Shea of Nashua; as well as her sister, Linda Jones of Chicago, Illinois. She is also survived by a host of second cousins in NY, Long Island, Staton Island, California. Her granddaughter,  Brittany Renee Boughner of Atlanta GA, and her grandson, Justice Lee Rover of Pikesville Maryland. 

Gloria was predeceased by her brothers,  Joseph Jones Jr.,  Thomas Jones and Lawrence Jones.

Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation on TUESDAY, November 14th from 10 AM until 12 Noon at ANCTIL-ROCHETTE & SON FUNERAL HOME, 21 Kinsley Street, Nashua.
