Judith A. Lynch

November 9, 1939 ~ December 8, 2017 (age 78) 78 Years Old

NASHUA –  Judith A. Lynch, 78, died at home surrounded by her family on Friday, December 8, 2017 after a courageous 22-month battle with ovarian cancer and melanoma.

Judy, daughter of George (Mitch) and Edith Carbonneau, was born in Manchester, NH on November 9, 1939. She attended elementary school at the Villa Augustina and then St. Joseph’s High School. While in high school she worked as a nurse’s aide. She continued her passion for caring for others as a nursing student at St. Anselm’s College, graduating in 1961.

She married James F. Lynch in Manchester, N.H. on September 16, 1961. Judy worked as a visiting nurse in New York City until the birth of her first child when she turned her nurturing ways into a lifelong career as a stay at home mom to five children. Her role as mom involved numerous moves between Florida, Vermont, Portland, Maine; Buffalo, NY and Poughkeepsie, NY before returning to New Hampshire in 1994.

Over the years, Judy developed an interest in quilting, embroidery and other needle work. She was active in many quilt and embroidery groups while living in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. and Nashua, N.H. Most recently, she was an active member of the Bedford Friendship Quilt Guild and the “Happy Scrappers.” She completed numerous beautiful embroidery samplers and quilts that she shared with so many friends and family members. Judy was very generous in sharing her love of quilting by making donations of hand-made quilts to various organizations. She spent many days working on quilt projects while cheering on the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots.

A childhood love of playing cards and other games, led Judy to the game of bridge. She was an active member of the Ladies Daytime monthly bridge group and the RISE Duplicate Bridge group that met weekly in Nashua.

Judy is survived by her husband of 56 years, James Lynch; 4 sons, Jim and wife, Lisa of East Aurora, NY, John and wife, Kathy of Westford, MA., Tom and wife, Kelly of Doylestown, PA., and Chris and wife, Karol of South Salem, NY; her daughter, Cathy of Oneonta, NY; and 8 grandchildren: Tommy, Shelagh, Brendan, Taylor, Kerry, Matthew, Aidan and Daniel.

She was predeceased by her parents, George and Edith Carbonneau, her grandparents, Aime and Aurore Carbonneau and Pierre and Marie Anne Laverdiere, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins of her Carbonneau and Laverdiere families.

Judy was an active parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church in Nashua, New Hampshire. In the last few months, she was well cared for by the nurses and aides at St. Joseph’s Cancer Center and Home Health and Hospice Care.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Judy’s life on Wednesday, December 27th from 3:30 until 5:30 p.m. at ANCTIL-ROCHETTE & SON FUNERAL HOME, 21 Kinsley Street, Nashua. Her funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 28th at Immaculate Conception Church, 216 E. Dunstable Road, Nashua. Burial will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Manchester.
