Welcome to the memorial page for

Mary J. (Conley) Ewalt

November 22, 1927 ~ January 18, 2017 (age 89) 89 Years Old

Mary Jean Ewalt, age 89, a resident of Nashua passed away at Community Hospice House on Wednesday, January 18, 2017.

She was the beloved wife of 29 years to Burton E. Ewalt, who passed away on March 24, 1978.

Born in Boston, Massachusetts on November 22, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Edward M. and Gladys K. (Walsh) Conley.

Mary spent her childhood in Winchester, MA and graduated from Winchester High School, class of 1945.  She met her husband, Burton Ewalt, and married in 1949.  Mary worked initially at Connecticut Mutual Insurance Company for several years but decided to be a stay-at-home mother once she started having children. They moved to Reading, MA and started a family with a total of five children (this after the doctors told her she would never have children!). Children Kevin, Karen, and Susan were born in Winchester and spent their early years living in Wilmington, MA. Burt was transferred to Orlando in the early sixties where Carolyn and Michael were born. While Burt worked as an engineer for defense in Florida, Mary continued to stay at home and raise their children.

After ten years living in Orlando, the family moved to the north and resided in New England once again, living in Nashua, NH. After Burt died in 1978, Mary went to work for Kollsman for over thirteen years (administration) after which she retired.  Mary enjoyed knitting, sewing cross-stitching, reading, and her many pets.  She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and her family was her life.  She loved spending time with her eighteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

Mary was pre-deceased by her husband Burton Ewalt and her son Michael Ewalt, as well as her brother Edward M Conley and her sister-in-law Louise A. (Victorine) Conley. Mary is survived by her son Kevin Ewalt and his wife Beverly (Tyler, TX) and their four children, Karen Sutton, her husband Rick (Litchfield, NH) and their four children, Susan Lavoie (Nashua, NH) and her three children, Carolyn L’Ecuyer (Nashua, NH) and her husband Lee and their four children.  Mary’s deceased son Michael also had three children.  Her grandchildren: Jack Darwin, Sean, Gregory and Brian Ewalt, Christopher, Eric and Brandon Sutton, Brittany Salois, Robert, Jonathan and Steven Lavoie, Jennifer Mahajan, Joshua, Laurie and Sarah L’Ecuyer, Kyrstee and Curtis Ewalt.
