Mary Harte

NASHUA, NH - Mary Frances Harte, 53, died peacefully at her home on Saturday, February 18, 2017. She was the longtime partner of Melvin Jones, who predeceased her on February 8, 2015.

Mary was born in Waltham, MA on March 14, 1963. She was the beloved daughter of the late Francis Patrick and Mary Theresa (Corcoran) Harte. She graduated from Westford Academy, Westford, MA, Class of 1981.  She then attended and graduated from UMASS Amherst with her bachelor’s degree, in 1986.

Most recently, she was employed by the Justice Resource Institute, Lowell, MA as a Clinical Case Manager.  Prior to this, she was Program Director for the Robert F. Kennedy Children’s Action Corps at the Fay A. Rotenberg School in Westborough, MA.

Mary was a dog lover; she especially loved her dog, Lizzie. Mary dedicated her life's work to empowering young women, believing in their potential and pushing them to succeed when others may not have done the same. With a strong sense of social justice, Mary worked with her mind, heart, and hands to ensure that others would experience a lifetime of fulfillment and success.  She was gratified and humbled at the impact of her contributions.

Family and friends enjoyed Mary’s quick and lively sense of humor; she always had something uplifting to share. She will be deeply missed by all.

She is survived by her two sisters, Kathleen Harte Wallman and her husband Steven of Virginia, and Margaret “Peg” Hackett and her husband John of Connecticut; her niece Elizabeth Hackett of Phoenix, AZ; as well as many fond relatives in Melvin Jones’ extended family.

Relatives and friends are invited to her Funeral Mass on Saturday, March 18th at 10 AM in St. Catherine of Alexandria Church, 107 N Main Street, Westford, MA. Her burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Main Street & Tadmuck Road, Westford.  Flowers are welcome, delivered to Anctil-Rochette & Son Funeral Home, 21 Kinsley Street, Nashua, NH, as are contributions to the Nashua Humane Society, 24 Ferry Road, Nashua, NH 03064.
