Shirley Mae (Kellyhouse) Roy

October 8, 1935 ~ January 4, 2018 (age 82) 82 Years Old

UPDATED SERVICE INFORMATION

NASHUA- Shirley Mae Roy’s soul, transitioned unto Heaven on January 4, 2018, fittingly during the blizzard “Grayson”. Such was her life, a series of storms that the universe tested her with, from early on in childhood to her last days residing at Greenbriar Nursing Home. Her mother was single but managed to raise her on her own back in the 30’s.
Shirley was born on October 8, 1935 in Greensborough, NC and was the daughter of the late Mae Agnes (Kellyhouse) McLaughlin and step daughter to the late Dr. Philip McLaughlin and her biological father, Arthur Wright.

As a child, she traveled with the Carnival and remembers fondly her Aunt Rose, Aunt Lena, and Uncle George taking care of her during those travels. She suffered with asthma and was sent to a farm in Webster, NH, residing with a loving family and found joy there, recovered and returned home to her mom. She often spoke of her stay there with loving memories.
She met her first husband, Robert Ouellette, at the age 14 and later married him. Although they divorced, they always had a special love for each other. She then married her second husband, Franklin “Pete” Roy and stayed together until his death in 2007. Pete had the patience of an angel and cared for her during her many years of struggling with mental illness. She impacted so many lives and God put her on this earth for each of us to share her journey in our own personal way.

She will be so missed, but ultimately, we are all grateful that Shirley, Mom, Sissy and Grammy is finally at peace.

Shirley’s family would like to extend a special “Thank you” to both the staff at Greenbriar Nursing Home and Home, Health & Hospice for their loving care of Shirley.
Shirley is survived by her children, Catherine LaSalle, Robert and Lisa Ouellette, Maurice Ouellette, Eva Ouellette, Joseph and Tara Roy and Marie Roy; her brother, Patrick and Cindy McLaughlin and sister, Kathleen and Bill Raney; her grandchildren, Brian and Amy LaSalle, Danielle (Dulchinos), A.J. and Nichole Ouellette, Tyson and Chelsea Ouellette, Melina O’Brien, Samantha and Devlin Melvin, Ian and Isaiah Hernandez,  and Ashley and Travis Roy. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Hailey Turcotte, Jacqueline Dulchinos, Camille, Cecilia, and Carman Melvin, Grayson and Garrison O’Brien, and Jadelyn, Ryder, and Rose Ouellette; and her “Best Friend in Life,” for 70 plus years, Nancy Wynott.

A graveside service will be held on SATURDAY, June 16th at 11 AM in St. Louis Cemetery, 752 W. Hollis Street, Nashua. In lieu of flowers, our Family asks that people who loved Shirley, “Pay it Forward” to someone they know in need of help.
