OBITUARY: EDNA C STIRK
Edna C. (O’Connor) Stirk, 86, a resident of the Hunt Community of Nashua passed away on Thursday August 11, 2011, at the Southern NH Medical Center.
Edna was born in Lowell, Ma. on January 16, 1925, the sixth of eight children of the late John and Delia Christine (Toolan) O’Connor. She spent her childhood and early adulthood in Lowell, graduating from St. Patrick’s High School and Lowell Commercial College. During the Second World War she worked at Fort Devens, and later worked as a secretary at the Lowell Electric Light Corp. In the early 1950’s she met the late Sidney Stirk of Nashua, NH at the Commodore Ballroom. They were married in St. Patrick’s Church, Lowell on July 31, 1954 and took up residence in So. Nashua. A loving and devoted wife and mother through 57 years of marriage, Edna raised five children and continued giving her loving care to her eight grandchildren in her later years. Edna was an active member of St. Patrick’s Parish Ladies Guild of Nashua and participated in activities of the St. Vincent DePaul and St. Anthony’s Fraternity of the Secular Franciscan Order. She was also a licensed real estate agent and worked for Kopka and 101 Realty in Nashua. For the last 25 years she enjoyed summers with her family at York Beach, Me.
Edna is survived by;
Two daughters; Geraldine Dupont and her husband Ronald and Margaret Savoia and her husband David all of Nashua
Three sons; David Stirk and his wife Peggy Wreen of Princeton, NJ, James Stirk and his wife Helen of Naperville, IL and Michael Stirk and his wife Amy of Chicago, IL
Eight grandchildren; Kristina Dupont, Joseph Savoia, Nicholas Savoia, Matthew Savoia, Kathryn Stirk, Andrew Stirk, Henry Stirk,and Molly Stirk,
One brother; Edmund O’Connor and his wife Martha of Lowell,MA.
One sister; Eileen Archibald of Methuen, Ma
SERVICES: Visiting hours will be held on Sunday Aug. 14, 2011 from 4 to 7 PM in the Anctil-Rochette & Son Funeral Home, 21 Kinsley St, Nashua. A funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday morning in St. Patrick Church, Nashua at 10 A.M. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, Hudson. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Vincent DePaul Society of St. Patrick’s Parish.
