OBITUARY: THOMAS GREANEY DOWNS, JR.


Thomas Greaney Downs, Jr., 68, of St. Petersburg, FL, passed away unexpectedly on July 14, 2010 at his home.
Tom was born in Weymouth, MA on January 23, 1942, a son of the late Thomas Greaney Sr. & Mary (Connor) Downs. He was the husband of Joan Marie (Reynolds) Downs of St. Petersburg, FL.
Tom had been residing in St. Petersburg for the past 20 years. He had been employed by Autoway Chevrolet of Clearwater, Fl as a warehouse manager. Prior to that, he had a long career in trucking. He was a US Coast Guard veteran. Tom was an unbelievably avid sports fan, particularly of his beloved New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox. He also enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren when time and distance permitted.
Besides his wife of 20 years, Tom is survived by;
Three sons; Tommy Downs and his wife Debbie of Yarmouthport, MA, Michael Downs and his wife Kendra of Kittery, ME and David Downs and his wife Susanna of Centerville, MA
Nine grandchildren; John Thomas, Ryan, Caroline, Michael, Burke, Jack, Sean, Libby and Danny
Also several nieces and nephews
SERVICES: Visiting hours will be held on Thursday July 22, 2010 from 8:30 AM until the time of the Funeral Mass in the Anctil-Rochette & Son Funeral Home, 21 Kinsley St., Nashua. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday July 22, 2010 in St. Louis de Gonzague Church, 48 West Hollis St., Nashua at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Assoc., PO Box 84092 Dallas, TX 75284-0692.

Tom was a friend for 15 years and I will miss him greatly. Tom sure did love his family and my heart gos out to them at this time. Faith in the lord will get you through this hard time.
