OBITUARY- CHARLES DIMOPOULOS

Charles Dimopoulos, 91, of Nashua, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday March 12, 2015 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack.

Charles was born in Makedonia Greece on February 25, 1924, a son of the late Apostolos and Areti Dimopoulos. He was a survivor and soldier of WWII and also fought in the Greek Civil War. In 1962, Charles immigrated to America and later became a proud American citizen.

He was a member of Saint Philip's Greek Orthodox Church in Nashua. He had donated to several non-profit organizations that included The Soldiers of Foreign War", the Nashua Police and Fire Departments, The National Committee of Social Security Preservation as well as various cancer societies and the American Legion, to name a few. Charles truly enjoyed to garden, tending to his grape vines and making his own wine. He enjoyed passing his time with woodworking, making home videos, going to Sunday Church services and attending several religious events, in particular he attended the Greek Virgin Mary Monastery located in Northern Greece. In his early years, Charles would take his family to Silver Lake, Hampton Beach, the White Mountains and trips to Greece. While in Greece he visited childhood friends and family members. In his later years, he was an avid NPR listener and focused to provide his wisdom to his family members about what he found important and to save for the future. Charles was employed in the maintenance department at Lockheed Martin for many years until his retirement in 1989. He was predeceased by a brother, John Dimopoulos and a son, Peter Dimopoulos.

Charles is survived by;

One son; Louis Dimopoulos of Nashua

One daughter; Arianna Dimopoulos of Nashua

A brother Chris Dimopoulos and his wife Effie of Nashua

A nephew; George Dimopoulos of Massachusetts

His previous wife; Eleni Dimopoulos of Nashua

SERVICES: Visiting hours will be held on Monday March 16, 2015 in St. Philip's Greek Orthodox Church, 500 West Hollis St., Nashua beginning at 10:00 AM. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Community Hospice House c/o Development, 7 Executive Park Dr., Merrimack, NH 03054 or by going to www.hhhc.org/donationform.
