Raymond A. Laquerre

Raymond A. Laquerre, 89, of Hudson, New Hampshire, passed away on January 20, 2015.

He was born in Hudson on October 3, 1925, the son of J.B. Laquerre and Victoria (Ouellette) Laquerre. Educated in Nashua schools, Raymond left school at an early age to work and help support his family.

A life-long resident of New Hampshire, Raymond lived in Nashua prior to moving to Hudson in 2004. Raymond enjoyed playing cards, taking trips to casinos, dining out, and spending time at the Nashua Senior Activities Center.

Raymond was a veteran and proudly served his country in World War II in the U.S. Navy. He served aboard the battleship U.S.S. Midway. After the war, he started out as a Call Man for the Nashua Fire Department and later became a Regular on the force, serving for 28 years, mostly at the Amherst Street Fire Station. He retired in 1980. Later, he worked for 10 years at Rivier College in Housekeeping Maintenance. Raymond was also a lifelong member of the Nashua NH Fire Rescue (Retired).

Raymond is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Sylvia "Sugar" (Hudon) (Ouellette) Laquerre whom he married on February 18, 1984. Raymond is predeceased by his first wife Lea (Garant) Laquerre. Other family members include his two stepsons, Phillip Ouellette and his wife Alecia of Oviedo, Florida, Victor Ouellette and his wife Louise of Chester, New Hampshire, as well as his three adoring grandchildren Jeremiah, Emily, and Nicole.

One of ten children, Raymond was predeceased by his sisters Julie Sirois, Cecile Kitchen,

Theresa Laquerre, and Blanche Walker, as well as his brothers Gerard Laquerre, Paul Laquerre, and Robert Laquerre. Raymond is survived by his sisters Janet Soucy of Nashua, Janice Lenz and her husband Robert of Nashua, and sisters-in-law Nancy Laquerre of Merrimack, Theresa Hamel of Milford, Pauline Chisholm of Nashua, and brother-in-law Raymond Hudon of Nashua.

Raymond was a devout Catholic and a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church, and later

St. Aloysius of Gonzaga Church, both in Nashua.

SERVICES: Family and friends will honor and remember Raymond's life by gathering for calling hours on Sunday, January 25, 2015 from 2 to 6 p.m. at Anctil-Rochette & Son Funeral Home, 21 Kinsley Street, Nashua. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 26, 2015 at 10 a.m. at St. Aloysius of Gonzaga Church, 48 West Hollis Street, Nashua. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Corpus Christie Food Pantry, 43 Franklin Street, Nashua, NH 03064.
