Jane Jacobus Obituary

Nashua, NH — Jane Margaret Jacobus, 79, of Nashua, NH, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2024 at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center while surrounded by loving family members. She was born on September 20, 1944 in Orange, New Jersey to Edward and Virginia (Condron) Casey.

After earning a degree in Nursing at Seton Hall University, she worked as a nurse in New Jersey, and later in the Intensive Care Unit at Dartmouth Hitchcock Hospital in Hanover, New Hampshire.  She finished her career as a case manager for Tufts Healthcare.  During her retirement, she served as a volunteer reading tutor at her grandsons’ school and facilitated bereavement group meetings where she met some of her closest friends.  She leaves behind a legacy of compassion and service.

Her husband of 47 years, Richard, died in 2014.  Jane met Richard as a teenager during one of her many summer visits to the New Jersey seashore.  In later years, she and Richard loved spending vacations on the coast of Maine and walking the beaches of Plum Island in Newburyport, Massachusetts.

Mrs. Jacobus was an artist with desserts.  She baked extraordinary lemon meringue and apple pies as requested yearly by family members celebrating birthdays.  On Saint Patrick’s Day she always made Irish Soda Bread.  Over the years her desserts became extraordinary creations inspiring others to hire her to make them for special occasions.  Her piece de resistance was a glorious Wedding Cake, five layers of Fruit Cake, as requested by the Bride, adorned with gorgeous flowers.  She delivered it to the Crane Estate in Ipswich, MA.

In addition to her late husband, Mrs. Jacobus was predeceased by her eldest son, Jeffrey Jacobus and her brother Donald Casey. Survivors include three sons, Ken Jacobus and wife, Denise, of Wilton, NH, Kevin Jacobus and his wife Kelly of Boston, MA and Dean Jacobus and his wife Rachel of Millbury, MA; grandchildren, Ryan Caden and Max, brother Edward, sisters Ellen and Ginny; sisters-in-law Karen Casey, Denis Jenssen, and Terry Jacobus; as well as many nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to the medical staff at the Southern New Hampshire Medical Center and Visiting Angels of Nashua for their excellent care.
