Robert Brodeur Obituary

Robert C. Brodeur, 87, passed away peacefully at the Community Hospice House on March 14, 2024, surrounded by his loving family.  He was born in Nashua, NH, on December 24, 1936, to the late Camille and Oberline (Noel) Brodeur.

Robert was the beloved husband of Phyllis A. (Trudeau) Brodeur, with whom he spent 63 wonderful years of marriage.

Bob grew up in Hudson, NH and was a graduate of Alvirne High School, Class of 1955. After graduation, he proudly served his country in the Army performing his duties at the Nike Missile Philadelphia Defense Base. Bob began his career at a young age working for Kennedy's Butter Store and Champagne Market.  The last 25 years in the grocery business, he was employed by Alexander's Markets.  He was the first store manager of their Nashua location and was promoted to grocery buyer for the entire chain.  Bob had small businesses throughout his life inspired by his passion for radio-controlled airplanes.  In the 70's, he was co-owner of Dembros Hobbies and started Granite State R/C Products in the 80's.  In 1991, he retired from the grocery business to pursue his lifelong dream of opening his own hobby store known as R.C. Buyers Warehouse.  It began in a small, rented space in the Millyard District of Nashua.  The business thrived quickly and outgrew the Millyard location.  In 1994, R.C. Buyers Warehouse was relocated to its retail location on Northeastern Blvd. in Nashua.  He proudly owned a store that not only sold R/C products but had also become a great social connection where others interested in the hobby could learn from the knowledge and experience of skilled hobbyists.  He spent 26 years working side by side with his daughter, Sandra, until his retirement in 2017.

Bob had more hobbies than any of us can recall.  Whether he was driving one of his antique cars, on a motorcycle or traveling, he was always up for an adventure.  The most near to his heart was aviation.  In his earlier years, he could be found at Boire Field flying his Cessna or going out on flights with fellow pilot friends.  His passion for R/C airplanes dated back to being a young boy and evolved over the years to include helicopters, cars, and boats.  If it had a remote control, he was going to master it.  He attained that goal, winning many competitions along the way and became a great teacher to many others interested in flying R/C.  He was past President and a founding member of the Southern NH Radio Control Club and an active member of Concord Aeroguidance Society.

In addition to his wife, Phyllis, Bob is survived by his three daughters, Brenda (Brodeur) Lachance and her husband Robert of Nashua, Deanna (Brodeur) Rochette and her husband Eric of Nashua and Sandra Brodeur and her partner Forrest Kenney of Punta Gorda, FL.  He is also survived by his grand dogs whom he loved so very much.

Bob was predeceased by his sister, Rita (Brodeur) Casper of Shady Cove, Oregon.  He also leaves behind nephews and many cousins.

Bob's family would like to thank the Community Hospice House and Fresenius Kidney Care of Nashua for the kindness and care they provided.
