William “Bill” James Murphy, 78, of Hudson, NH, passed away suddenly at his home on Saturday April 13, 2024. He was born in Lawrence, MA on January 26, 1946 to the late Joseph and Mary (Duggan) Murphy.

Bill grew up in Lawrence and graduated from Lawrence High School with the class of 1963.  He went on to college and graduated  with a Master’s Degree in Psychology from Suffolk University in Boston. He then worked in various adolescent training schools, and served as the Assistant Director of Special Education in the Timberlane School District. In 1989, Bill joined the Nashua School District where he ran a program for emotional and behavioral challenged adolescents until his retirement in 2009. He had many fond and lasting memories of the students he served, and developed lasting friendships with his staff.

Bill loved traveling and made the most of trips to Ireland, the Alps, and many trips to Kauai.  He always viewed himself as a true Irishman through and through, and especially treasured any trip to his ‘homeland.’

Bill always enjoyed time in Maine with family and friends and boating on Lake Cobbosseecontee and Mooselookmeguntic, and especially enjoyed his time at home with his nearby family.

In addition to his wife of 26 years, Janice [Small] Martin, he is survived by his daughter Beth Ann Cail and Christopher of Salem, NH, his grandchildren Thomas and Samantha Cail, his stepson Terrence Martin Jr., and Lauren of Londonderry, and their children Gabriella and Mackenzie, and stepson Aaron Martin and Emily of Kauai, Hawaii. Bill was predeceased by his brother Michael Murphy.

At his request, there are no formal services for Bill. There will be a later private burial in Maine.  In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations in Bill’s name to St. Jude https://www.stjude.org/donate/donate-to-st-jude.html?sc_icid=header-btn-donate-now or Tunnels to Towers https://dogood.t2t.org/give/320847/#!/donation/checkout .
