Alan C. Mendel

August 31, 1944 ~ September 16, 2017 (age 73) 73 Years Old


NASHUA- Alan C. 'Al' Mendel, 73, died peacefully at his home on Saturday, September 16, 2017. He is the beloved husband of Adele L. (Charlebois) Mendel with whom he would have celebrated 49 beautiful years of marriage on October 19th.

Alan was born in Pittsfield, MA on August 31, 1944, and was the son of the late George H. and Alberta I. (Biron) Mendel. He attended Western New England College where he graduated with his Master’s Degree in Business Administration.

He was a proud veteran, serving in the United States Navy until he was honorably discharged in April of 1972.

Prior to his retirement, Alan was employed by Commonwealth Financial as a financial representative. Follow his retirement, he became an NRA instructor.

In his free time, he enjoyed his time spent at the Pelham and the Nashua Fish and Game clubs and served as a past officer at the Nashua chapter. He recently took an interest and participated in Western Cowboy shooting and enjoyed camping/boating as well. In his younger years, he was a hobbyist, picking up different hobbies such as model trains and different collections. Alan was a caring and helping father and husband. When called upon, he was always there to help with any task asked of him. He had a good heart and will be missed dearly by everyone, especially his family.

In addition to his wife, Adele, he is survived by his two loving daughters, Kathryn Fazio and her husband Ken Jr. of Dracut and Kristina Murray and her husband Donald Jr. of Clayton, NC; "Bepa's" seven grandchildren, Meghan, Devin, James, Josephine, Amanda, Jason, and Justin. He is also survived by his sister Nancy Gomes and her husband Jack of Hernando, FL as well as many of his wife's brothers and sisters in-laws, nieces and nephews.

Relatives and friends are invited to his visitation on WEDNESDAY, Sept. 20th from 5 until 8 PM at ANCTIL-ROCHETTE & SON FUNERAL HOME, 21 Kinsley Street, Nashua. His Funeral Mass will take place on THURSDAY, Sept. 21st at 11 AM in Parish of the Resurrection Church, 449 Broad Street, Nashua. His interment and military honors will follow in St. Louis Cemetery, Nashua.
