NASHUA—Carol Ann Hjelm, age 70, of Merrimack, passed away peacefully at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center after a long courageous battle with lung cancer.
She was born on August 3, 1947, the youngest daughter of the late Leo and Anita (Provencher) Cabana, and was a long time resident of Merrimack, NH. She was also an employee of BAE Systems for 40 years prior to her retirement in 2014.
Carol was a loving, devoted mother and grandmother, whose greatest joy was seeing her daughter and grandsons do what they love. Throughout her daughter’s dance career she could always be found selling tickets, making costumes or lending a hand backstage. She carried that same dedication and support over when it came time to cheer on her grandsons at their baseball or basketball games. Carol adored her family and friends, and cherished the time she got to spend with them. She was also a lover of animals, especially her horse, Panzer.
Carol is survived by her daughter Kristen Brander and her husband Gregg of Merrimack; her two grandsons, Dylan and Kyle Brander; her brother Raymond Cabana of Florida, and her sister Annette Bouvier and her husband Joseph of Florida.
Relatives and friends are invited to Carol’s life celebration on SUNDAY, August 12 at 1 PM at The HOMESTEAD RESTAURANT, 641 Daniel Webster Hwy, Merrimack, NH. Interment will take place at a later date. As an expression of sympathy, donations may be made in Carol’s honor to The American Cancer Society.
