Janet Estes Obituary

Nashua - Janet (West) Estes, 81 died peacefully surrounded by her family on November 24th, 2018 at Lahey Hospital in Burlington, MA.

 She was born on September 11th, 1937 to Roseann (Frazier) West and Dana H. West of Portage Lake, ME. She has two surviving sisters, Betty Tardiff of Milford, NH and Claudette (West) Ball of Nashua, NH and her cousin Sue West of South Windsor, CT.

 Janet graduated from Ashland High School in June of 1955 and worked for more than 60 years as an accountant and bookkeeper. She married George H. Estes on December 1st, 1956, to whom she was married for 57 years. Janet will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and a dear friend to many. She was a long-time communicant of St. Kathryn’s Parish in Hudson, NH. 

 Janet was a firm believer in her faith and was heavily involved with the church as a greeter and a Eucharistic Minister. She was a devoted servant of Jesus Christ who found great joy in helping those in need. She enjoyed traveling around the world with friends and family and loved swimming almost everyday at the “Y” with her best friend Betty McKenna of Hudson, NH. She was a treasure to all who knew her, and her love of helping others will live on with those who knew her.

 Janet is survived by her son Stephen M. Estes and his wife Christine of Hooksett, NH and two grandchildren Megan and Michael Estes of Hooksett, NH. Janet is predeceased by her parents, husband George, and two sisters, Sandra Stavens of South Windsor, CT and Barbara Snowman of Millinocket, ME.

 A mass of Christian burial celebrating Janet’s life will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday December 1st, 2018 at St. Kathryn’s Church, 4 Dracut Rd., Hudson, NH 03051 with Father Joseph M. Cooper presiding.  All are welcome to visit with the family prior to the mass from 9:30-10:45 am in St Kathryn’s Chapel or immediately after mass in the church hall for a celebration of life luncheon. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Janet's memory to The Salvation Army Donor Support Northern New England Division, 297 Cumberland Avenue Portland, ME 04104.
