John Shea Obituary

John “Mike” Shea, 74, of Nashua, NH passed away Wednesday October 3 at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack, NH. He was the beloved husband of Colleen (Durkin) Shea.

Born in Arlington, MA on July 8, 1944, he was the son of the late George and Addie (Bonomi) Shea.  Mike attended Boston College where he received a bachelor's degree and was a member of the ROTC program. Upon graduation, Mike proudly served in the United States Army. Following college and his time in the Army, he made a career as a credit analyst, retiring from PC Connection in 2005.

Mike was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Derry, NH and Kiwanis. Upon retirement, Mike found passion in woodworking and was especially proud of the canes and walking sticks he used to make. Mike was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. Besides his beautiful family, there was probably nothing in his life he was prouder of than his 13 years of sobriety where he touched the lives of many. Mike was an advocate and a cheerleader for those who struggled with addiction, and he used his life experience to be a beacon of hope for those around him.

Besides his loving wife, Mike is survived by his son Brendan Shea of Nashua; his two brothers, George Shea and his wife Jane of Worcester, MA, Leonard Shea of Chicago, IL and his mother-in-law Charlotte Durkin of Nashua, NH, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mike was the brother of the late Robert Shea.

Mike's family is greatly appreciative of all of the care that he received from staff at St. Joseph Hospital and the Community Hospice House.
