Martin Gouveia Obituary

Nashua- Martin D. Gouveia, 83, died peacefully Tuesday, December 24,
2019, at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center surrounded by his
loving family. He is the beloved husband of Beverlee A. (Sousa)
Gouveia with whom he shared 53 years of marriage.  Martin was born in
Lowell, Massachusetts on April 20, 1936 and was the son of the late
Agnostinho and Marie (Correia) Gouveia. He attended the East Coast
Aero Tech School and graduated as an Aeronautical Master Technician in
1956.

He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force Reserve
until he was honorably discharged in May 1962.  For over 40 years,
Marty was employed as an aircraft inspector working for Trans World
Airlines, Eastern Airlines and American Airlines.  He was a devoted
Boston sports fan, an avid hunter, and loved the outdoors.  Marty also
had a true passion for fly fishing and tying his own flies.  He
enjoyed many hobbies including collecting coins, arrowheads, and model
trains.  Marty was a Ham Radio enthusiast and spent much of his free
time restoring Ham Radios.  He was a licensed pilot who loved flying
his airplane with his grandchildren.  Above all he cherished time
spent with his family, especially at their camp on Howard Pond in
Hanover, Maine.

In addition to his wife, Beverlee, he is survived by his three
children, Marianne Beck and her husband Jeffrey of Milford, David
Gouveia and his wife Jill of Nashua, and Melissa Deering of Nashua;
his six grandchildren, Thomas Beck and his fiancee Tracey Cobb of
Wilton, Ashley Beck of Ayer, MA, Joseph Gouveia of Nashua, Tyler
Gouveia of Nashua, Sonya Theriault of Alexandria, VA, and Adam
Theriault of Nashua. He is also survived by his sister Angelina
Freitas of Dracut, MA; as well as several nieces, nephews, and
cousins.

Marty was predeceased by his thirteen siblings including Mary
Gonsalves, Joseph Gouveia, and Ramona Cormier.  Relatives and friends
are invited to Marty’s visitation on THURSDAY, January 2nd from 11 AM
until 1 PM at ANCTIL-ROCHETTE & SON FUNERAL HOME, 21 Kinsley Street,
Nashua. His Funeral Service will follow in the Funeral Home at 1 PM.
Interment and military honors presented at St. Louis Cemetery, Nashua.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Marty’s name to either
St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN
38105 or to Nashua Humane Society, 24 Ferry Road, Nashua, NH 03064.
