Mary Ellen Baxter

NASHUA-Mary Ellen (Liddell) Baxter, 72, of Nashua passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at the Hunt Community, surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Robert M. Baxter of Nashua.

Mary was born in Boston, MA on April 23, 1947, a daughter of the late Robert E. and Wilhelmina (Lexner) Liddell.

Born in Boston, Mary grew up in Watertown, MA attended Rosary Academy in Watertown, MA and later Aquinas Junior College in Newton, MA.  She was employed by Instrumentation Laboratory in Watertown and Lexington, MA for several years.  On May 8,1971 she married Robert Baxter and left work to raise their beloved daughter in Chelmsford, MA.  Mary enjoyed spending time with family at Old Silver Beach in Falmouth, MA, playing Scrabble with her daughter, traveling, and decorating her home for all the holidays.  Mary was a generous woman who was quick to make others feel welcome or help a friend in need.  Mary’s friendly smile and good sense of humor touched many people.  

Later in life Mary and her husband moved to Carmel, Indiana where she took up the game of golf.  Mary and her husband retired to Lake Suzy, FL where Mary joined the Ladies Golf League at the Kingsway Country Club.  Mary was an avid Bridge player and was a member of the Bridge League.  Mary and her husband forged wonderful friendships over the years in both Indiana and Florida before a move back to New Hampshire to be closer to their daughter.  Mary was a loving and devoted wife, mother and friend.

Besides her husband, Mary is survived by her daughter, Kerry Baxter and her wife Sue Saldi of Nashua, two brothers; Col. (Ret.) Robert J. Liddell and his wife Mary Anne of Burke, VA and Peter A. Liddell and his companion Barbara Berry of Kensington, CA as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.  Mary’s family is thankful for the extraordinary care she received in her final weeks from the folks at the Hunt Community and from those with Home Health and Hospice.

Visitation will be held on TUESDAY, July 23rd from 3 to 7 PM in the ANCTIL-ROCHETTE & SON FUNERAL HOME, 21 Kinsley St., Nashua.  A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 24, 2019 in Immaculate Conception Church, 216 East Dunstable Rd., Nashua at 10:00 AM.  Interment will take place at 2:00 PM in the NH Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, NH.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Heart Warrior Foundation at heartwarriorfoundation.com or to Home Health and Hospice, 7 Executive Park Dr., Merrimack, NH 03054.
