Maurice H. Smith

NASHUA- Maurice H. Smith, 92, died peacefully Tuesday, May 14, 2019 in Maine. He was the beloved husband of the late Jeannette G. Vaillancourt who predeceased him on January 19, 2017.  They shared 68 beautiful years of marriage together.

Maurice was born in Hooksett, NH on March 1, 1927 and was the son of the late Harry and Cecile (Beaureguard) Smith.

He proudly served his country during WWII and The Korean War in the United States Army until he was honorably discharged in April of 1952.

For many years, Maurice was self-employed as a carpenter.  He was the longtime owner of the Rug & Floor Shop in Nashua. 

He was devoted to reading his bible daily.  He was a proud and devoted Christian and served others in countless missionary work in the States and abroad in Japan, Mexico and Chile.  In recent years he enjoyed spending his time making puzzles.  His lifelong passion was gathering, splitting, chopping and burning wood.  He loved his wood stove!  He was a member of the Richelieu Club in Nashua for ten years. 

Maurice was predeceased by his eldest daughter, Donna on December 15, 2017.  He is survived by his four remaining children: David and his wife Catherine of Nashua, Daniel and his wife JoAnn of Pelham, Duane and his wife Angela of Nashua and Dolores and her husband John Pacheco of Merrimack; as well as his ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. He is predeceased by nine of his siblings and survived by his sisters Helen Fraser of Nashua and Doris Leblanc of Lady Lake, FL.

Relatives and friends are invited to Maurice’s visitation on WEDNESDAY, May 22nd from 6 until 8 PM at ANCTIL-ROCHETTE & SON FUNERAL HOME, 21 Kinsley Street, Nashua. His Funeral Service will be held on THURSDAY, May 23rd  at 10 AM in Christian Bible Church, 205 Manchester Street, Nashua. KINDLY MEET AT CHURCH. Interment will follow in St. Louis Cemetery, Nashua.
