Rachel A. Descoteau

NASHUA- Rachel A. Descoteau, 94, died Saturday morning, May 18, 2019 at Ansley Place in Nashua surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of the late Roger S. Descoteau with whom she shared 58 years of marriage.

Rachel was born in Nashua on June 6, 1924 and was the daughter of the late Thomas and Marie (Raymond) Lavoie.

In her early years, Rachel was employed in the assembly department at Sprague Electric, then working at Caron’s Restaurant, formerly in Wilton, as a waitress. Most recently she was employed as a general floor manager at Anheuser-Busch in Merrimack, until her retirement.

In her free time, Rachel loved playing Bingo and was affectionately known as the “Bingo Queen”. She also enjoyed playing cards and crocheting and knitting. Family time was always the most important aspect of Rachel’s life. Spending all the holidays with her family, especially Christmas and New Year’s Eve. Her most cherished time was that spent with her family, who will miss her dearly.

Rachel is survived by her three sons, Richard T. Descoteau and his wife Jane of Merrimack, Robert D. Descoteau and his wife Lucy of Nashua, and Ronald E. Descoteau and his wife Robyn of Hudson; her five grandchildren, Mariann Amrani and her husband Adib of Merrimack, Brian Descoteau and his wife Heather of Weare, NH, Robyn M. Descoteau of Nashua, Thomas Descoteau of Hudson, and James Descoteau of Hudson; as well as her two great-grandchildren, Anisa and Omar Amrani and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her sister Jeanne Bowen formerly of Nashua.

Rachel’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Ansley Place as well as the staff of Home, Health, and Hospice for their exceptional care provide to Rachel during her time at Ansley Place.

Relatives and friends are invited to Rachel’s visitation on THURSDAY, May 23rd from 4 until 7 PM at ANCTIL-ROCHETTE & SON FUNERAL HOME, 21 Kinsley Street, Nashua. Her Funeral Mass will be held on FRIDAY, May 24th at 10 AM in St. Christopher Church, 62 Manchester Street, Nashua. Interment will take place at the convenience of her family in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Nashua. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Rachel’s name to Home, Health, and Hospice, 7 Executive Park Drive, Merrimack, NH 03054 or the Nashua Humane Society, 24 Ferry Road, Nashua, NH 03064.
