Steven Francis King

Nashua — Steven F. King, 49, of Nashua passed away on Saturday, September 9, 2017 after suffering cardiac arrest. Steve was the loving husband of Debora Gagnon King for 25 years, and father to daughters Kayla, 20, and Alyssa, 17, who attend the University of Connecticut and Louisiana State University, respectively.

Steve, known as Kinger to his friends, loved his family and friends and was the consummate outdoorsman. His passions included hiking, fishing, kayaking, skiing, growing giant pumpkins,  and searching for the best craft beers New England has to offer. He loved spending summers with his family at Priscilla Beach in Plymouth, MA, and in the winter at the Golden Glove boxing matches in Lowell.  He had a tremendous sense of humor and loved to share laughter with everyone he met.

Steve had been employed by UnitedHealthcare for the past nine years where he served as the Health Plan CEO, Northeast, for the Medicare and Retirement Plans. He also served on the Board of Directors of the Nashua YMCA as Treasurer for the past four years. Previously he worked for Tufts Health Plan in Network Contracting.

Steven was born on July 1, 1968 in Nashua. He is survived by his parents Mary Ann Bettilyon and her husband Bob Bettilyon, and Francis X. King and his wife Beverly King. He is also survived by his sister, Christine King and her partner Juliet Manalan, and brother Barry King and his wife Jennifer King. He is survived by three sisters-in-law and three brothers-in-law, and their spouses: Diane Kennedy and her husband Mark, Jeanne Dionne and her husband Michael, Marie Fuller and her husband Michael, Paul Gagnon, George Gagnon and his wife Pauline, Michael Gagnon and his wife Maria.  He is also survived by many loving aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and tons of great friends.

Steve studied business at the University of New Hampshire, Class of 1990, and received his MBA from Notre Dame University’s Mendoza School of Business in 1995. Steve graduated from Bishop Guertin High School in Nashua in 1986.

He has absolutely no relation to the famous author, but he does love the Red Sox.

There will be no calling hours. Services will be held at Immaculate Conception Church at 216 East Dunstable Road in Nashua on Wednesday September 13, 2017 at 10:00 am. The mass will be followed by a Celebration of Life Ceremony.

In lieu of flowers, please send donations to one of Steve’s favorite charities, Merrimack Home Health and Hospice, 7 Executive Park Drive, Merrimack, NH 03054 or visit www.hhhc.org/how-to-help/donate, where his wife Debi also volunteers.
