Theresa "Teacy" (Hudon) Hamel

August 24, 1921 ~ December 5, 2017 (age 96) 96 Years Old


MILFORD- Theresa Olena (Hudon) Hamel, passed away December 5, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family.  

Theresa , also known as Teacy to her family and Marie Theresa to many of her acquaintances, was born in Nashua on August 24, 1921 and was the daughter of the late Theodore and Eva (St. Onge) Hudon. She was the widow of Edward Hamel who passed away in 1970.

Theresa was employed for 30 years by Sanders Associates, now BAE, in Nashua. An avid knitter and seamstress, she knit baby blankets for AIDS babies and sewed for many of her family and friends. She was a member of the Retired Seniors Volunteer Program (RSVP), and volunteered at St. Joseph’s Hospital and the Milford Medical Center for nearly 30 years. She loved camping, traveling, and reading. Born and raised in Nashua, Theresa lived in Birmingham, Alabama in the late 1940’s and then in Atlanta, Georgia until 1959 when she returned to Nashua. For the past 14 years she has resided with her two daughters in Milford, New Hampshire.

Theresa was predeceased by her son, Arthur R. Hamel, her brother, Victor Hudon of Arlington, Texas, and her sisters, Rita (Hudon) Smith of Kinston, North Carolina, Ursula (Hudon) Cote and Pauline (Hudon) Chisolm of Nashua, NH.

She is survived by her two daughters, Paula M. (Hamel) Clark and Natalie S. (Hamel) Hall, both of Milford and a daughter-in-law, Kim (Vallicanti) Hamel of Wolfeboro, NH; her sister Sylvia “Sugar” (Hudon) Laquerre of Nashua, one brother, Raymond Hudon of Nashua, and a sister-in-law, Betsy (Evans) Hudon of Arlington, TX. Eight grandchildren, Carol (Hall) Brownell, Karen (Clark) Swain, Jon A. Hall, David Clark, Michael Hamel, Kelly (Hamel) Greco, Robert Hall and Jeffrey Hamel, eighteen great-grandchildren, six great-great grandchildren and sixteen nieces and nephews as well as many great- nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, Theresa’s family asks that donations may be made in Theresa’s name to the Corpus Christi Food Pantry, 43 Franklin Street, Nashua, 03064 or to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.

Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation on WEDNESDAY, December 13th from 2 until 6 PM at ANCTIL-ROCHETTE & SON FUNERAL HOME, 21 Kinsley Street, Nashua. Her Funeral will be held on THURSDAY, December 14th at 10 AM in St. Louis de Gonzague Church, 48 W. Hollis Street, Nashua. Her interment will follow in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Nashua.
