David Gary Clarkson, 72, died peacefully on Sunday, October 18, 2026 at Catholic Medical Center in Manchester surrounded by his loving family. He is the beloved husband of Sylvia (Simard) Clarkson with whom he shared 32 years of marriage.
David was born in Westminster, Massachusetts on July 7, 1954 and was the son of the late Robert R. Clarkson and Esther K. (Conwell) Fish. He received his education in Conville, New Hampshire and graduated from Conville High School.
He proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War until he was honorably discharged in September of 1974.
David began his professional career at Hitchner Manufacturing, where he dedicated over 25 years of hard work and service. Throughout his tenure, his strong work ethic and dedication allowed him to advance within the company, ultimately holding the position of supervisor before his departure. Most recently, David was employed as a truck driver for Momentum Metals, where he continued to demonstrate his commitment to his work and the pride he took in a job well done.
In his free time, David enjoyed golfing and was a proud member of several golf leagues, often spending time on the greens at Amherst Country Club. He also had a love for the outdoors, particularly fishing and camping, with one of his favorite destinations being Freedom, New Hampshire. David enjoyed a good game of cribbage and, in his younger years, was actively involved in his community as an umpire for a softball league in Keene, New Hampshire. Above all, his most cherished time was spent with his family, whom he loved deeply. David will be remembered for the love he shared with those closest to him and will be deeply missed by all who had the opportunity to know and love him.
In addition to his wife, Sylvia, he is survived by his daughter, Carrie Rak of Nashua; his granddaughters, Angela Sennott and Amber Rak; his grandson, Jacob Rak; and his three great-grandchildren, Addison Sennott, Wyatt Sennott, and Liam Dube. He is also survived by his brother Charles Clarkson of Gardner, MA; his sisters-in-law, Mona Kerouac and her husband Richard of Nashua and Christine Degrenier of Nashua; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Sadly, in addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his three brothers, Robert Clarkson Jr., Richard Clarkson, and Ronald Clarkson.
Relatives and friends are invited to David’s visitation on MONDAY, October 26th from 4 until 7 PM at ROCHETTE FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, 21 Kinsley Street, Nashua. His graveside service with presentation of military honors will be held on TUESDAY, October 27th at 11 AM in St. Louis Cemetery, Nashua.
