Henry J.
Staples
Dec 19, 1943 — Feb 5, 2024
Henry J. Staples, 80, died peacefully on Monday, February 5, 2024, at Fairview Nursing Home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Dorothy A. (Dube) Staples with whom he shared 57 years of marriage.
Henry was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts on December 19, 1943 and was the son of the late Henry E. and Mary (Emma) Staples. He attended schools in the Lawrence School System and was a graduate of Lawrence High School.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged in 1970.
In his early years, he was employed as a print setter for the Eagle Tribune as well as the Worcester Gazette. He later worked as an operator for Veolia Waste Water Treatment plant until he retired in 2015.
In his younger years, you would find Henry happily coaching many teams for Nashua Babe Ruth Baseball, which he did for 28 years. He was an avid sports fan, but baseball was his passion. In his later years, he looked forward to trips to the casino. Above all, his most cherished time was spent with his family, who he loved dearly. He will be remembered for always being a hard worker and providing for his family.
In addition to his wife, Dorothy, he is survived by his three sons, James Staples (Christine) of Merrimack, Daniel Staples (Syvong) of Leominster, MA, and Matthew Staples of Florida; his four grandchildren, Moira Staples, Emma Staples, Ryan Staples, and Evinn Staples. He is also survived by his two sisters, Jackie Perillo of Haverhill and Judith Basso of Florida; his sister-in-law, Theresa Staples of Salem, NH; as well as many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother Arthur "Sonny" Staples.
