Joao A. Silva, 83, passed away at home December 7, 2021 surrounded by his loving family.  He was the husband of the late Armandina (Bettencourt) Silva who predeceased him in April 2021.

He was born in Portugal on July 31, 1938 and was the son of the late Domingos and Perpetua (Sousa) Silva.  Joao worked for many years as a machine operator at Interstate Container in Lowell, MA.

In his free time, Joao was always ready to enjoy a good game of cards with friends.  He also loved watching soccer or spending time in his garden.  But above all else, he cherished time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Joao is survived by his daughter, Maria Homem and her husband Manuel of Peabody, MA; two sons,  Bernardino Silva and his wife Leonor of Nashua; and Dennis Silva and his wife Rosa of Lowell; five grandchildren, Manny Jr., Melissa, Ryan, Tania and Alicia; and 4 great-grandchildren, Manny James, Novia, Noah and Hailee.

Joao is also survived by his sister, Albertina Silveira of Lowell, MA.

Relatives and friends are invited to Joao's visitation on FRIDAY, December 10, 2021, from 1 until 2 PM at ROCHETTE FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, 21 Kinsley Street, Nashua. Interment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, 101 Kinsley Street, Nashua.
