John “Jack” Arthur Balch, of Hudson, New Hampshire passed away peacefully on October 3, 2026, at the age of 89. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Katherine “Kitty” Balch, to whom he was married for (66) years.

Born on May 25, 1937, in Lynn, Massachusetts, Jack was the cherished son of the late Harold and Elizabeth (Mulholland) Balch. He grew up in Lynn, Massachusetts, attending St. Mary’s Elementary School and St. Mary’s Boys High School, before earning an associate’s degree in Construction Management from the Wentworth Institute in Boston.

A proud veteran, Jack served his country in the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers in Fort Polk, Louisiana during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he dedicated over 30 years to the construction industry as a skilled and respected construction manager. Jack’s career included work with Hilton Homes, R.H. White, Bradgate, Metcalf & Eddy in Boston, and Procon in Hooksett.

He was a man of many interests. Jack loved skiing and hiking in the White Mountains, conquering Mount Washington with his family many times. He enjoyed boating, golfing, playing sports, and working around the house. He especially enjoyed traveling with his wife, Italy being his favorite destination. He spent his summers on Great Neck in Ipswich, MA which was his happy place where he enjoyed his boat (KADD) and spending time on the beach with family & friends.

Deeply committed to his community, Jack was a proud member and former Past Exalted Ruler of the Nashua Elks, where his focus was on Veterans service projects. Jack was a dedicated parishioner of the Parish of the Resurrection in Nashua for 56 years, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He volunteered into his early eighties at the Manchester Veterans Hospital and Tilton Veterans Home.

His greatest pride and joy was his family. Jack is survived by his children, Deborah Roman and her husband Timothy of Walpole, MA; Diane Ventresca and her husband Marco of Nashua, NH; Katie Harris and her husband Keith of Pepperell, MA; and Andrew Balch and his wife Christy of Manchester, NH. He was a loving grandfather to Alexander Ventresca and his wife Meghan, Benjamin Harris, Olivia Balch and her fiancé Anthony, Zachary Ventresca and his fiancée Kate, Ethan Harris, Hayden Balch, Jason Roman, and Emily Roman. Jack also leaves behind many cherished nieces, nephews, and cousins.
