Obituary

Joseph Anthony “Joe” Antonelli, 74, passed away peacefully at home on September 30, 2026. He was born on July 1, 1952, in Providence, Rhode Island, to the late Donato “Dan” and Genevieve “Jean” (Menese) Antonelli.

Joe was the beloved husband of Mary Ann (Petrarca) Antonelli, with whom he shared many wonderful years of marriage. He was a devoted and proud father and a deeply family-oriented man who cherished the time he spent with those he loved, especially over a margarita and a good gossip session.

Joe graduated from Cranston West High School, and later earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Rhode Island, as well as his CHA. Throughout his life, he worked at various hotels and restaurants, where his outgoing personality and ability to connect with people made him memorable to many.

Joe was a larger-than-life character who brought energy and enthusiasm wherever he went. He especially loved coaching his daughter’s basketball team and creating memories that his family will treasure forever.

Above all, Joe was a devoted husband, father, and family man. He took great pride in his family and loved being surrounded by the people that meant the most to him. His generous heart, sense of fun, and unwavering love for his family will be deeply missed.

In addition to his wife Mary Ann, Joe is survived by his daughters Verna Jean Antonelli of Nashua, and Mariah Antonelli and her fiancé Anthony Argabrite of Nashua; his brother Stephen Antonelli of Johnston, RI; his sister-in-law Wendy Petrarca of Kingston, RI; his good friend and neighbor Joseph Iozzo; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Joe was predeceased by his sisters Jean Marie Cady and Lori Ann Antonelli; as well as his sister-in-law Ellen Marie Degnan and brother-in-law Richard Cady.

At the family’s request, there are no formal services at this time.
