Lester E. Reid of Nashua died Monday, March 14, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family after a several month battle with advanced stage metastatic prostate cancer.

He was the beloved husband of Elaine Reid. Les was born in Brewer, Maine the son of the late Leslie and Marcella Reid. He graduated from Brewer High School in 1954. He attended the University of Maine in Orono and earned a BS in Chemical Engineering.

After graduation, he continued his education attending graduate school at the University and earning a Master's degree in Pulp and Paper Science. Following graduation, he moved to Massachusetts and began working for Beloit Corporation a company that designed and manufactured equipment for the pulp and paper industry. During his 40 years with the Company he held a variety of positions in research, engineering, sales and marketing.  While working at Beloit, he was involved in extensive travel in the Far East. In 1996 when Beloit bought a Company in Nashua, he and his wife relocated to Nashua. Beloit's Nashua Division was sold to GL&V in 2000 and he remained at GL&V as a Product Manager until his retirement in April 2008.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a daughter Janet Reid in 1993.

Besides his wife, Elaine, he is survived by daughters Linda Reid of San Francisco, Susan Reid of Seattle, Washington and Amy Meehan (Michael Toniatti) of North Adams, Mass. Sons David Reid of Mesa, Arizona and Peter Cowlin (JoAnne) of North Adams, Mass. Two precious grandchildren Allison Meehan (Logan Mulrooney) and Connor Meehan of North Adams, Mass. Two special nephews and niece: Nicholas (Katie), Benjamin (Amanda), Abigail (Brandon Lozier) Stephenson. His sister in laws and their husbands Sharon and David Fitzpatrick of Rockville, Maryland; Janet and Roger Demary of Ocala, Florida; and Deborah and David Stephenson of Groveland, Mass.

Les was a proud communicant of St. Joseph The Worker Parish.

Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations can be sent to Home Health and Hospice Care, 7 Executive Park Drive, Merrimack, NH 03054.  His wife would like to especially thank Gary and Elliot from his hospice team for their compassionate care during the time he received in-home hospice care.
