Marguerite "Maggie" R.
Schmidt
Apr 13, 1950 — Oct 16, 2023
Marguerite R. (Bechard) Schmidt, better known to her family and friends as "Maggie", 73, died peacefully at her home in Medfield, Massachusetts on Monday, October 16, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Milton Conrad Schmidt, Jr ("Con"), with whom she shared 43 years of marriage prior to his passing in 2022.
Maggie was born in Nashua, New Hampshire on April 13, 1950, and was the daughter of the late Robert and Gertrude (Belanger) Bechard. She graduated from St. Louis High School in Nashua.
For 31 years, she was employed as a flight attendant for Delta Airlines. Flying was Maggie's greatest passion, as it gave her the opportunity to bring her love of travel and affinity for hospitality to life. Following her retirement from the airline, Maggie happily worked in childhood education as a teacher's aid at Wheelock Elementary School in Medfield, Massachusetts. Also a music lover, she spent her summers during this time working security for concerts at the stadium and other outdoor venues. Maggie then spent more than 10 years working as a teacher at Chestnut Children's Center in Needham, Massachusetts, where she developed great friendships with dear colleagues. Always a nurturing caretaker, she adored working with the babies and children during her career in education.
In her younger years, Maggie spent her time horseback riding and caring for her two horses. Above all, her most cherished time was spent with her family, whom she loved deeply.
Maggie is survived by her two daughters, Lauren Schmidt of Medfield, Massachusetts and Angela Schmidt of Denver, Colorado, and her beloved grand-dog, Bubba. She is also survived by her sister, Cecile (Bechard) Boliver and husband Ron, of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; her aunt, Jeanne Vaillancourt of Nashua, New Hampshire; her sister-in-law Nancy (Schmidt) Sommer and husband George of New Smyrna, Florida; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Laurette Bechard.
Relatives and friends are invited to Maggie's visitation on FRIDAY, November 10th from 4 until 7 PM at ROCHETTE FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, 21 Kinsley Street, Nashua. Her Funeral Mass will be held on SATURDAY, November 11th at 10 AM in St. Louis de Gonzague Church, 48 W Hollis Street, Nashua. KINDLY MEET AT CHURCH. Interment will follow in St. Louis Cemetery, Nashua.
