Michael N. Leonard, 65, a longtime resident of Nashua, passed away unexpectedly at home on Tuesday morning, August 4, 2026, leaving a deep void in the hearts of those who loved him.

Born on May 14, 1961, Michael was the beloved son of the late Norman F. Leonard and Irene B. (Allison) Leonard. From a young age, he was an avid sportsman who loved hunting and fishing, passions he shared not only with his father, but also with extended family and close friends who became part of those traditions. Some of his happiest memories were spent on the open ocean, departing from Salisbury State Park in Massachusetts, a ritual he began as a child and continued throughout his life.

As he grew older, Michael developed a deep love for working on cars, trucks, and custom motorcycles. Music was one of the constants in his life, and he built a collection of cassette tapes and later CDs from the bands he loved, always happiest when he could catch a concert. He also enjoyed collecting coins, taking pride in the small discoveries and the history behind each piece. Whether he was elbow‑deep in an engine, adding to his collections, or listening to his favorite bands, Michael found joy in the simple, steady passions that shaped his life.

Michael graduated from Nashua High School in 1979 and began his career at Landtree of Hollis, a local home‑building company where he met his longtime “brother,” Michael Glover. Over the years, he worked in many trades — plumbing, construction, truck driving, welding, and heavy equipment operation, always willing to lend his skills where they were needed. He took particular pride in “making the world flat” as a heavy machine operator.

He was a loyal friend who cherished the “brothers” he met along the way, especially those who shared his love of motorcycles, deep‑sea fishing, hunting, and the outdoors. Michael never hesitated to lend a hand or show up when someone needed him. He had a nickname for everyone, a dry wit that often caught people off guard, and a way of making others feel welcome without needing many words. Michael’s life was shaped by the people he loved, and the connections he built remained at the heart of who he was.

Michael is survived by his daughter Jessica Leonard and her partner Leonard Gammon; his granddaughter Elizabeth June Leonard; his “forever partner” Debi Downs and her son Corey Thomas Lavertue and his wife Jenifer; his sister Deborah Farmer and her husband Bernard; and his niece Katherine Farmer and her husband Brandon Eastep.

He is also survived by his favorite aunt Irene St. Germain; his special cousin Rob Leonard; and his beloved brothers and friends at RJ’s Motorsports. In addition to his parents, Michael was predeceased by his niece Alison Farmer, along with several cherished relatives and friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to gather with the family of Michael on THURSDAY, August 20, 2026, from 4:00 until 7:00pm at ROCHETTE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES, 21 Kinsley Street, Nashua, NH 03060. Words of remembrance will take place at 6:30pm.

A Celebration of Life will take place on SUNDAY, August 23, 2026 from 1:00pm until 4:00pm at the American Legion Post 23, 15 Cottage Street, Milford, NH 03055. All are welcome to come.
