ELAINE (ANNIS) WOODLOCK   5/6/1923-6/23/2000

Philip F. Woodlock, who formerly resided in Massachusetts and Florida but most recently Nashua, NH, passed away on January 21, 2022 following a period of declining health.  Philip was the beloved husband of the late Elaine (Annis) Woodlock who pre-deceased him in 2000 after nearly 55 years of marriage.  He remained the beloved father of Dianne (Woodlock) Emerson and husband Edward of Spring Hill, FL, Susan (Woodlock) Belli of Spencer, MA, Jane (Woodlock) Berzinis and husband Arthur of Venice, FL and Stephen Woodlock and wife Heidi of Tyngsboro, MA for 22 more years and was just shy of his 99th birthday at his passing.

In addition, Philip leaves behind 10 Grandchildren, 23 Great-Grandchildren, 7 Great-Great-Grandchildren, Sister-In-Law Katherine (Annis) Butler of New London, NH, and numerous loving nieces and nephews.

Philip is now also reunited in heaven with his dear parents, Cornelius F. and Jeanette E. (O'Brien) Woodlock, and sisters Jeanette (Woodlock) Wheeler and husband Frank, Dorothy (Woodlock) Howe and husband (Reg), and Carole (Woodlock) Murphy.

Philip and Elaine's life together was truly a love story.  Sweethearts since their high school days, their love grew as they studied in the greater Boston area where "Bud" pursued the profession of pharmacy and Elaine became a nurse.  Their two professional registrations would serve them well in the years ahead.  First however came World War II which commenced "the greatest education of my life", as Bud often described his Marine Corps career; from Midway, Philippines, and Nagasaki; from a proud private to a commissioned captain.  Equally dedicated Elaine, wanting of better health, which precluded a military experience, served her nursing profession with skill and devotion in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.  And thusly went their prenuptial years.  Together once again, On December 17, 1945 Elaine and Bud were married in Holy Trinity Church, Greenfield, MA. The town of their births.

The following fifty-four years continued to grow their love as together they shared the worldly challenges, with appreciation in abundance for their many blessings.  Timely changes of all kinds blessed their union.  Elaine's profession, from nurse to full-time home maker and mother; four kids in all, found themselves blessed with the wonderful mother.  Their auburn curls identified the three little girls and finally a baby brother.  As devoted siblings, they bonded with lifetime love for one another and mom and dad.

Other changes came with the relocation of their various homes.  With each new location the little ambassadors brought new playmates galore, and along with their parents many life-long friendships commenced and endured.

As his youthful years passed, so also did the name "Bud", evolving to Phil, Philip, and sometimes, Mr. Woodlock.  Those salutations seemed to change with his civilian employment.  Several years of filling prescriptions in the Boston area gave way to a career of 34 years of service to Abbott Laboratories.  His application, dedication, and fondness for his duties melded well with the requirements of his work.  He advanced well in his specialty as was so noted in a 1983 retirement recognition by the New England Society of Anesthesiologists.

Retirement was quite a change --- but an opportunity to enjoy together the rewards of their marriage.  "Ten more years would be great", they were quoted at 'retirement'.

God's generosity gave them sixteen; and then began their final period of separation.

At 5:26 A.M., June 23, 2000, their lives together on this earth, came to an end; Philip's beloved wife, Elaine, passed away.  So ended their loving marriage of over 54 years.

Now, Philip has likewise left this earth to be with his beloved Elaine once again; "FOREVER, TOGETHER" as reads the inscription on their shared, oak urn, heralding their final reunion.

A family celebration of their lives will be held prior to their internment at Mt. Vernon Cemetery in West Boylston, MA on a beautiful spring day.
