Jones
May 22, 1937 — Feb 7, 2022
Roy Norman Jones, 84, died peacefully on Monday morning, February 7, 2022, at St. Joseph Hospital with his beloved wife by his side. He is the husband of Marie Jones with whom he celebrated their 51 years of marriage in October of 2021.
Roy was born in Butte, Montana on May 22, 1937 and grew up in Conrad, Montana. Roy was the son of the late Ben and Marie (Joines) Jones. He graduated from the University of Montana with a degree in Business Administration.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army until he was honorably discharged. While in the service, he had the privilege of spending a year in Korea. He loved learning about the Korean culture.
For many years, Roy was employed as an industrial engineer for General Motors until his retirement in 1992. Following his retirement, he volunteered for the Meals on Wheels program in the Hampton, NH area for 17 years.
In his free time, Roy enjoyed bicycling and hiking, and he loved to spend time outdoors. He and his wife, Marie, would travel to various destinations together but he especially loved his trips home to Montana to visit with his family. Roy had a cheerful soul and even through his debilitating illnesses, he would respond to those who asked, "How are you doing?" by always saying "Super". He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his wife, Marie, he is survived by his sister, Brenda Fretheim of Shelby, Montana, his brother Barry David Jones and his wife Barbara of Newton, Iowa; his in-laws, Robert Conlon and his wife Mary of Pepperell, MA, Claire Fontaine of Leominster, MA, and Joseph Conlon of Lunenburg, MA; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Roy was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Kathleen Mersereau and his brother-in-law, Marvin Fretheim.
At the request of Roy's family, a celebration of life service will be held in the spring. Arrangements entrusted to the care of ROCHETTE FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, 21 Kinsley Street, Nashua.
