Thomas Rory Carberry, born Thomas Rory Smith on March 7'", 1971, left this world in August of 2026. He will be greatly missed by his parents, Thomas Cullen Smith and Stephany “Stevie” Smith; his brother, Cullen Michael Smith and his wife Jessica Kirsten Smith. He sadly leaves his beloved daughter, Charlotte Anne Carberry and her mother Laura Jean Carberry. He was fiercely proud of Charlotte's achievements, both in and outside of school. They shared a common passion for the ocean and sea life, setting up numerous saltwater aquariums together. They spent many happy times on the small island Cornelious in Wickford Harbor. He will also be missed by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins from Florida, Michigan, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Texas, and Washington state. Rory was a lifelong Science Teacher, and he loved his work spending many hours outside of the school day planning lessons for his students. He enjoyed the outdoors; sailing, hiking, scuba diving and cycling were among his endeavors. He also enjoyed photography and used it to portray the world through a different eye. He took pleasure in working with wood and sketching; many family members have pieces of his work.

A celebration of his life will be held in Rhode Island at a later date. Farewell and may you rest in peace dear Rory.
