Alfred LaBonte Jr. Obituary

Nashua- Alfred A. LaBonte Jr., 89, died peacefully on Friday morning, April 17, 2020. Alfred was born on August 9, 1930 in Manchester, NH and was the son of the late Alfred A. LaBonte and Yvonne (Bourque) LaBonte.
He is the beloved husband of Pauline L. LaBonte whom he married on June 6, 1954 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Denver, Colorado.
Alfred graduated from Nashua High School in 1948. He enlisted in the United States Air Force in 1951 and served as a B-29 gunnery instructor at Lowry AFB in Denver, CO until 1955.
After his honorable discharge from the Air Force, he worked for the Martin Co. in Colorado and for one year at Electro Optics System in California. He returned to Nashua in 1968 and was employed by Sanders Associates until his retirement in 1992 from human resources.
Alfred received his degree in business from Northeastern University in 1973. He was ordained as a permanent deacon in the Catholic Church in 1983 and served the parishioners of St. Joseph the Worker Church in Nashua until his retirement in 2004.
He will be remembered for his sense of humor and as one who was frequently heard humming songs. His children and grandchildren often heard an old Mitch Miller Song, “Be kind to you web footed friends, for a duck may be somebody’s mother…”
In addition to his wife, Pauline, he is survived by his four children, Janet Goddard and her husband Kenneth of Nashua, Mary Lemery of Wells, ME, Joseph LaBonte and his wife Patricia of Litchfield, and Michael LaBonte and his wife Nina of Bedford, NH; his six grandchildren, Cathy Londry and her husband Tom, Jason Lemery, Lucas LaBonte, Molly LaBonte, Rachel LaBonte, and Lauren LaBonte. He is also survived by his two great-grandchildren, Allison and Christopher Londry; his sister, Yvette Demanche and her husband Horace “Oscar” Demanche as well as many nieces and nephews.
Alfred was predeceased by his brother Normand LaBonte and his wife Peggy.
Alfred’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Harbor Care at Nashua Crossing as well as Home, Health, and Hospice for their excellent care of Alfred during his time with them.  
Due to coronavirus restrictions, a family-only burial service will be held at St. Louis de Gonzague Cemetery. A funeral Mass will be celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 216 E. Dunstable Road, Nashua at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Alfred’s name to the New Hampshire Catholic Charities, 3 Crown Street, Nashua, NH 03060 or to a charity of once’s choice.
