Arthur “Art” Joseph Berube Jr., 77, of Amherst, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2025, at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center after a brief illness.
Born on November 30, 1947, in Nashua, Art was the son of Arthur Sr. and Pierrette Berube. He graduated from Nashua High School and continued his education at the Manchester Vocational Technical School. Skilled with his hands and gifted with mechanical insight, Art built a career he loved. The majority of Art’s work was welding and fabrication, however he also worked as a truck driver and equipment operator for the Town of Amherst for 15 years, where he formed many lasting friendships.
Art proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1967 until 1969 when he was honorably discharged.
In 1972, he married the love of his life, Diana (Leduc) Berube, and together they shared 53 wonderful years of marriage. Art was a devoted husband, father, and friend. He enjoyed model ship building, woodworking, and tinkering with projects of all kinds. Art was exceptionally talented as a mechanic, especially with small engines, and his family fondly remembers him bringing his five-year-old son, Jon, into the garage to begin passing on his hard-earned knowledge; he instilled the desire to pursue mechanics and fabrications within Jon’s career.
Art will be remembered for his craftsmanship, and the quiet joy he found in working with his hands and helping others.
In addition to his wife Diana, Art is survived by his son Jon Berube and his wife Line of Weare, NH; his daughter-in-law, Darlene Cardoza; his grandchildren Brittany, Jon Jr., Parker, Sophia, and Lola Cardoza; his siblings Peter Berube and his wife Pat of Brookline, Marc Berube and his wife Haesun of Korea, and Bob Berube and his wife Peggy of Londonderry; his sister-in-law Rachel York; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by Lt. Todd Berube, Hudson Fire Department.
No more pain…
