Athena Pappas Obituary

Athena Pappas, 96, of Nashua, NH, passed away peacefully on November 1, 2020, at her home. She was the beloved wife of the late Alexander Pappas who died December 18, 1998.

Athena was born on January 4th, 1924 in Manchester, NH.  She was a daughter of the late Thomas and Helen (Kaltsas) Kotrotsios. 

Prior to her marriage, Athena had been employed by the State of NH Treasurer Office.  Following WWII, she worked in the banking industry including Indian Head Bank.  Athena continued her career at JC Penney from where she eventually retired.  She was a member of St. Philip Greek Orthodox Church and a lifelong member of the Elpis Ladies Society.  She loved doing crossword puzzles, crafting and crocheting.  Athena loved to cook and bake, especially for the Annual Greek Food Festival.  Her greatest joy however was spending time with her family.

Athena is survived by her three daughters: Ellen Murphy of Londonderry, Gia Schaffer and her husband Richard of Vienna, WV and Jamie Pappas of Nashua; three grandchildren: Bryan Murphy and his fiancée Kortney Holsten, Stefanie Murphy and her fiancé James Thorpe and Alexandra Schaffer and a brother: George Karras of Gaithersburg, MD as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins

She was predeceased by two brothers: Charles Kotrotsios and Jimmy Kotrotsios: a sister: Evangeline Frangos and a son-in-law: Richard Murphy.

Family and friends are invited to a WALK THROUGH visitation on Thursday November 5, 2020 in St. Philip Greek Orthodox Church, 500 West Hollis St., Nashua beginning at 10AM. Her Funeral Service will begin at 11AM.  Private family Burial will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Philip Greek Orthodox Church Memorial Fund, 500 West Hollis St., Nashua, NH 03060 or to Home Health and Hospice, 7 Executive Park Dr., Merrimack, NH 03054.
