Barrett Anthony Brown, 43, passed unexpectedly on Monday, October 2, 2023. He is survived by his beloved wife, Jessica Erin (Sanderson) with whom he shared 20 years of marriage.
Barrett was born in Waterville, Maine on May 7, 1980 and is the loving son of Ralph Everett Brown and H. Bonnie (Wheeler) Brown. He received his education in the Hartland Maine School System, attended and graduated 3rd in the Class of 1998 from Nokomis Regional High School, Newport, Maine. Although he was accepted into the Air Force Academy, he continued his education and graduated with his bachelor's degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in 2002 where he was a proud member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity.
An avid enthusiast of aviation, Barrett was a private pilot, beginning his aviation career at Bangor Internal Airport working for the ramp services division before accepting a position as manager of the Fitchburg Airport in Fitchburg, Massachusetts. For over 17 years Barrett was employed by the FAA as an Air Traffic Controller and Supervisor at Boston Center and later moved to Boston TRACON as Supervisor and Operations Manager.
Barrett was an active member in FAAMA and served as President and Director of the Northeast Regional Director of FAAMA (FAA Regional Managers Association). In the fall of 2021, he was featured in “Managing the Skies” Spotlight on Aviation Leaders. The idea of preparing today’s managers to become the leaders of tomorrow was the cornerstone of his professional and personal life. To him there was nothing more satisfying than coaching and mentoring a manager, preparing them to be the best candidate for the job they desire. He has received many awards over his lifetime including National Awards in Communication and Teamwork.
Barrett was passionate about community involvement, representing Nashua Blast Lacrosse in NHLYA, Coaching NYSL Soccer and Nashua Blast Lacrosse. You could often find him running the scoreboard at Stellos Stadium and cheering on his girls.
Barrett will be remembered for his commanding presence and leadership qualities, and his booming voice, jovial demeanor, contagious smile and the Best Bear Hugs. He enjoyed mastering the grill, creating new recipes, road tripping with his family, and singing along to every song on the radio.
Above all, his most cherished time was spent with his two daughters, who he loved deeply and were the light of his life.
In addition to his wife, Jessica, he is survived by his two daughters, Elliott Sophia and Devin Ainsley, father Ralph E. Brown, mother H. Bonnie Brown and her partner Ken Knight. He is also survived by his brother Torrey Brown and wife Sarah; and nephews Ethan, Xander, and Connor Brown.
