Ben van Etten 80, of Nashua passed away after a brief illness on Saturday, June 6, 2020 surrounded by his 4 children and beloved grandson. He was the beloved husband of the late Anneke (Baumeister) van Etten, who passed away in August 2015, and son of Cornelis and Maria van Etten.
Ben was born in Deventer, Netherlands in the fall of 1939. He was a telegraph operator while proudly serving in the Royal Netherlands Navy. Shortly after being married and starting his family he immigrated to the US to live in Watertown MA, before moving to and settling in Nashua.
He spent most of his career as a computer programmer and worked for KLM where he met his wife, and also for companies such as van Leer, Instrumentation Laboratories, & Undercoverwear before semi-retiring, and then for several years was a chauffeur at LA Limo and McLaughlin Limo before retiring.
Ben had an incredible sense of humor and was always full of wisdom. He enjoyed spending time with his family, watching tv, and spoiling his girl, Trixie.
Ben was very loved and cared for, and leaves behind his 4 children, 10 grandchildren and his precious great-granddaughter. He is also survived by all 7 of his siblings and their spouses. Many nieces, nephews, close family and friends both here in the US and in the Netherlands. And lastly, he leaves his beloved little dog, Trixie, who was always by his side.
There are no plans for any service at this time, but his family will hold a small Celebration of Life at a later date tbd for family and close friends.
