Calvin Grant Sr. Obituary

Nashua- Calvin S. Grant Sr., died peacefully Sunday, September 13, 2020, at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center in Nashua.

Calvin was born in Boston, Massachusetts on August 7, 1923 and was the son of the late John and Florence (Theal) Grant.

He proudly served his country during WW-II , enlisting in the United Stated Army 1943 until he was honorably discharged in February of 1946 with the rank of Sergeant. Calvin served during the Normandy invasion as well as his Unit being one of the ONLY to have liberated Buchenwald Concentration camp.  

He was a lifetime member of the VFW, and also past American Legion Post Commander of Post 181 of North Reading, MA. 

Prior to his retirement, Calvin was employed as a Quality Assurance Manager for Cape Canaveral , Florida RCA Communications, NASA working both the MERCURY and GEMINI Space program's. After which he was also employed as Quality Assurance Manager at Sanders Associates.

In his free time he enjoyed painting, woodworking, small engine rebuilds and spending time with his family.

Calvin is survived by his two sons, Calvin S. Grant JR. of Londonderry, NH, and Kenneth E. Grant of Nashua, NH also a brother Paul Grant of Poway, CA., and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Calvin was predeceased by his son William P. Grant of North Reading, and his daughter Barbara Jean Allen of Haverhill, MA.

Relatives and friends are invited to Calvin’s WALK THROUGH visitation on SATURDAY, September 19th from 12 Noon until 2 PM - (with a Brief Memorial service @1:45p.m) at ROCHETTE FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, 21 Kinsley Street, Nashua, NH . His graveside service, presentation of military honors, and interment will take place on MONDAY, September 21st at 12:30 PM at the New Hampshire State Veteran Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Hwy, Boscawen, NH. 

In lieu of flowers, Calvin's request was for donations to be made to the Wounded Warriors Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas, 66675-8516.
