Christos “Chris” Dimopoulos, 90, died peacefully on Saturday, October 24, 2020, at St. Joseph Hospital. He was the beloved husband of the late Evmorfia “Effie” Zaharis who predeceased him on June 8, 2018.
Christos was born in Volivitsa, (North Epirus) Albania on May 22, 1930 and was the son of the late Panagiotis and Areti (Riakos) Dimopoulos.
In his younger years, he was employed at the assembly department for Sprague Electric for 10 years and then spent 30 years at Owens Illinois, Inc until his retirement. During his retirement he worked as a part-time associate at Market Basket for 17 years.
In his free time, he enjoyed gardening and took pride in his vegetable garden. He also enjoyed spending time with his family instilling the middle- class virtues of dedication to hard work, education, commitment, and generosity.
Christos is survived by his son, George Dimopoulos of Watertown, MA; his niece, Arianna Dimopoulos; his nephew, Louis Dimopoulos; his brothers-in-law, Haralambos Zaharis and Theofanis Zaharis all of Greece; and his sisters-in-law, Kalliopi Zaharis of Greece and Eleni Dimopoulos of Nashua; as well as several other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Christos was predeceased by his brothers, John Dimopoulos and Charles Dimopoulos; brother-in-law, George Zaharis; and sister-in-law, Eleni Zaharis.
Relatives and friends are invited to Christos’ WALK-THROUGH visitation on THURSDAY, October 29th from 10 AM until 11 AM in St. Philip Greek Orthodox Church, 500 W Hollis Street, Nashua. His Funeral Service will be held at 11 AM in St. Philip Greek Orthodox Church. Interment to follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Nashua. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Christos’ name to the St. Philip Greek Orthodox Church Every Member Fund. Arrangements entrusted to the care of ROCHETTE FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, 21 Kinsley Street, Nashua.
