Cidalia Vicente Obituary

Our Beloved Mother, Cidalia Vicente, 79, died peacefully on Wednesday, September 1, 2021, at Lahey Clinic in Burlington, MA.

Cidalia was born in Sao Miguel, Azores, on June 28, 1942, and was the daughter of late Maria (Medeiros) and Jose Ferreira.

While she lived in Portugal, she worked in a Linen factory making embroidery.  She then had an opportunity to come to America to make a better life for her family.  She worked for years at Bemis Plastic and Batesville Casket until she retired. She also worked for herself cleaning homes most of her life.

In her free time, she enjoyed ballroom dancing, after a little push from her daughters she took lessons later in life but was a natural beautiful dancer.  She had a green thumb for gardening and grew a variety of plants throughout her home, she loved spending time in her sunroom. She enjoyed shopping, especially with her two sidekicks her sister and daughter. Her cooking skills were outstanding, she could not live without having her Portuguese soup every day.  All of her life Cidalia was an extremely hard worker, making sure she could provide for her beloved family.  She loved her Portuguese heritage, from her favorite traditional music Fado, of course Amalia Rodrigues and Carlos do Carmo, to attending religious festivals. She was a devoted Catholic, she had an immense love for God, and she attended Mass every week.   Above all, her most cherished time was spent with her family, who she deeply loved.

Cidalia is survived by her two daughters, Ana Madalena Melo and her husband Joe of Hudson, NH and Helena Patricia Vicente and her significant other Fernando Santos. Her two grandchildren, of which she adored, Brian and Felicia Melo: as well as her siblings Maria Teixeira of Nashua, Laura Santos and her husband Bento Santos of Canada, Venilde Vicente of Canada, and Antonio Ferreira and his wife Lurdes of Canada.  She also has several nieces and nephews she loved so much and looked so forward to spending time with them.

She was predeceased by her sister, Cecilia Benevides.

Our mother was an amazing woman, although she may not have had the easiest life, she always made sure we were always cared for properly. We always had fresh food for dinner, always had a clean beautiful home and were always loved! She will be missed in so many ways, but she will always live in our hearts.

Rest in peace Mama, we will be together someday again, Love, your family
