Claire L. (Denis) Stuart

Claire L. (Denis) Stuart, 85, died peacefully on Saturday morning, November 21, 2020, at the Community Hospice House in Merrimack surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Donald R. Stuart who predeceased her in 1996.

Claire was born in Nashua, NH on April 15, 1935 and was the daughter of the late Emile and Anna (Turcotte) Denis.

In her younger years, Claire was employed as a stitcher for Jalbs and later continued her working career being employed at various nursing homes and at St. Joseph Hospital in housekeeping until her retirement.  

In her free time, she was an avid crafter, always doing little projects to make her family special keepsakes.  Claire was extremely happy when she won Mass Millions in 1996 which gave her the opportunity to travel. She explored many destinations but Paris, France, Disney World, where she experienced “the happiest place on earth”, and cruising were her favorites. Claire was a member of the Golden Gals in Hudson, where she would meet her friends for lunch, Christmas parties and many phone conversations and she also loved to spend time at the Nashua Senior Center. Above all, her most cherished time was spent with her loving family. She will be deeply missed for her resilient yet loving and nurturing personality.

Claire is survived by her five children, Louise Stuart, Elaine Donahoe and her husband Tim of Londonderry, Denise Thebodeau and her husband Michael of Litchfield, Christine Tanguay and her husband Gerry Jr. of Hollis, and Richard Stuart and his wife Julie of Londonderry; her eight grandchildren, Jillian, Nick, Jennifer, Michael, Gerry III, Cassie, Ricky, and Amanda. She is also survived by her six great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Claudette Denis of Hudson and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Donald, she was predeceased by her daughter Donna Stuart, granddaughter Dawn Marie Burtsell, and her siblings, Rachel, Rose, Florence, Rene, Richard, Conrad and Lucien.

Relatives and friends are invited to Claire’s WALK THROUGH visitation on MONDAY, November 23rd from 5 until 8 PM at ROCHETTE FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, 21 Kinsley Street, Nashua. Her Funeral Mass will take place on Tuesday, November 24th at 10 AM in St. Louis de Gonzague Church, 48 W Hollis Street, Nashua. Interment will follow in St. Louis Cemetery, Nashua.
