David Munnis Obituary

David Franklin Munnis, 66, of Nashua, New Hampshire unexpectedly passed away Wednesday March 27th, 2024 at Southern New Hampshire Medical Center in Nashua. He was born on July 9, 1957 in Nashua to the late Franklin Munnis and Gladys (Chickering) Errington.

He was a lifelong resident of Nashua, attending schools within the Nashua School System and was a graduate of Nashua High School with the class of 1975.

For many years Dave was employed as a real estate agent for Berkshire Hathaway and also worked as a manager at Best Buy, as well as Green Ridge Turkey Farm. He was the beloved husband of Melissa (Bergeron) Munnis with whom he spent 25 wonderful years.

David Munnis was an extraordinary man. Most people knew him simply as “Dave”; a fitting name for his welcoming and kind demeanor. Dave wasn’t formal but his presence alone elevated the room. He commanded attention because it was impossible not to be drawn to him. His voice was booming but his smile, eyes, and overall nature were gentle. He was a natural born leader throughout many successful careers but more importantly the guiding light to his close family and friends. Meeting Dave meant you gained a friend within minutes and a second family within only a few more of those minutes.

Over time his family lovingly gave him the moniker “Old Bones”. This was not because Dave was old and frail but rather because he was experienced and wise. He had quite a diverse and keen set of skills and was eager to share with others everything he had learned throughout life. In every house he ever owned he put hammer to nail. He was quick to teach how to make a house a home, not simply by demonstrating his mastery of DIY (do it yourself), but more importantly by filling the space with laughter and love. Dave’s homes were always the central gathering place for both of life’s big events and small moments and he always had an open-door policy for those in need. Dave was a dog and animal lover and deeply devoted to charitable causes to help improve the lives of sheltered animals and rescue them. Without hesitation, Dave put others before himself every time. Teaching and giving are what ignited his flame.

Dave wasn’t only strong in body but also in both mind and soul. When life’s biggest hurdles were thrown at you he always knew the right thing to say and how to lift your spirits. As a deeply spiritual Christian if you needed a friend to pray with he could recite meaningful scripture from memory. When he put pen to paper a masterful wordsmith and poet was born. He followed local and world events and used his sharp mind and tact to help others navigate our ever-changing reality from a strategic point of view. He used these skills to help navigate life’s biggest challenges and it showed as his circle of influence grew bigger and bigger from his hometown in Nashua throughout all of New Hampshire. His influence helped countless strangers, friends, and family buy houses; turn those houses into homes; develop lifelong skills; progress in their careers; find love; find themselves; find God; and most importantly learn to be better sons, brothers, and fathers.

If you knew Dave you knew you were in the presence of someone remarkable; and the best part about him was that his bright eyes and humble smile made you love him all the more for it.

In addition to his wife Melissa, Dave is survived by his three children Todd Munnis of Merrimack, Casey Richards and her husband Jeff of Bow, and Ryan Munnis and his wife Sarah of Manchester; two stepchildren Joshua Leduc and his wife Krystle of Derry, and Timothy Leduc of Derry; six grandchildren Michael Munnis, Maggie Munnis, Cody Richards, Devin Richards, Caleb Richards, and Rupert LaFlamme-Munnis; two siblings Daniel Munnis and his significant other Kristine Belle of Merrimack, and Timothy Errington and his significant other Debbie Werthman; as well as several nieces and nephews.

David was predeceased by his grandson Justin Richards, his brother Franklin Munnis, his sister Julie (Munnis) Narkunas and his beloved dog Lilly.

Dave offered  beautiful gifts to at least three lives; he was a live organ donor supplying multiple organs to help save others. Until the end, Dave was truly a giving individual.
