Donald Allard Obituary

 Donald Raymond Allard, 87, died peacefully on Sunday morning, May 22, 2022 at the Community Hospice House surrounded by his loving family. He is the beloved husband of Janet (Gauvin) Allard with whom he shared 51 years of marriage.

Donald was born in Derry, New Hampshire on March 25, 1935, and was the son of the late George N. and Lillian J. (Newcomb) Allard. He was later adopted by Raymond and Cecile Allard. 

He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict until he was honorably discharged.

For 14 years, he was employed as an engineer for St. Joseph Hospital.

Donald was a member of the Knights of Columbus where he was a past Grand Knight as well as a past Faithful Navigator. He was an avid card player, playing “Pinochle” on Monday’s, Cribbage on Tuesday’s, and Poker on Thursday’s. He enjoyed baseball and attending the Nashua Silver Knight’s games. Donald also thoroughly loved to travel, he had visited most of the United States but especially favorited his trips to the White Mountains or to Florida. During Lent, Donald volunteered at St. Christopher Church, serving the fish dinners and he was also a dedicated parishioner of St. Patrick Church in Nashua. Above all, his most cherished time was spent with his family.

In addition to his wife, Janet, he is survived by his children, James Allard of Meredith, NH, Julie Lavoie and her husband Marc of Nashua, Theresa Richardson and her husband Bill of Colebrook, NH, and Mary Chitester of Ohio; his 10 grandchildren, Holly Mechling and her husband Brian, Crystal Dempsey and her husband Jacob, Chelsey Sunberg, Meghan Sunberg, Ginnella Jacques and her husband Joey, Jordan Allard, Meghan “Alex” Lavoie, Nathan Allard, Matthew Lavoie, and Zafi Allard. He is also survived by his seven great-grandchildren, and his siblings, James Allard of IL; Pauline Dufour of Florida and Theresa Forrest and her husband James of Pelham, NH; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his first wife, Betty Allard; his second wife Margaret Allard, his daughter, Ellen Sunberg, and his sisters, Bertha Bednarczyk and Shirley Latorre.

Relatives and friends are invited to Donald’s Funeral Mass on WEDNESDAY, June 1st at 9:30 AM in St. Patrick Church, 29 Spring Street, Nashua. KINDLY MEET AT CHURCH. Interment and presentation of military honors will follow in Gibson Cemetery, Pelham. Arrangements entrusted to the care of ROCHETTE FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES, 21 Kinsley Street, Nashua.
