Elsie Elizabeth (Barahona) DiBella, 88, died peacefully on Monday, May 4, 2026, surrounded by her loving family at Edgewood Center in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert A. DiBella, with whom she shared 37 years of marriage before his passing in 1995.
Elsie was born in Malden, Massachusetts, and was the daughter of the late Peter and Grace (Candido) Barahona. She was a graduate of Malden High School. Prior to her retirement, Elsie worked for many years as a bookkeeper. She was devoted to her family and found her greatest joy in spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Elsie is survived by her children and grandchildren, Lisa DiBella and her daughter, Loralee; Robert DiBella and his wife, Jeannie, and their children, Rachel and Matthew; Elsie DiBella and her son, Kevin; Lydia (DiBella) Tilsley and her children, Alexandra and Jacob; Richard DiBella and his wife, Kizola, and their daughters, Kendra, Savanah, and Sabrina; and Michael DiBella and his wife, Heather. She is also survived by two great-grandchildren; her sister, Cynthia (Barahona) Giardina, and her husband, Steve Giardina; and many loving nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Elsie was predeceased by her son, Peter DiBella, her sisters Eleanor (Barahona) Kenney and Lucinda Barahona.
Relatives and friends are invited to Elsie’s Funeral Mass on Tuesday, May 12th at 10:00 AM at St. Louis de Gonzague Church, 48 West Hollis Street, Nashua. Interment will follow, with family and friends gathering at Holy Angels Cemetery, 22 East Road, Plaistow, NH on Tuesday, May 12th at 12:15 PM.
