Ernest Gagnon, 99 passed away peacefully in Weare, NH on Monday, August 7, 2023. He was born May 2nd, 1924, in Nashua to the late George and Celina (Ricard) Gagnon.
Ernest was the widow of Constance (Connolly) Gagnon, with whom they shared 68 years of marriage, prior to her passing in 2022. For many years Ernest was a self-employed business owner for E Gagnon & Son Construction, as well as a cattle farmer.
In his free time Ernest was an outdoorsman, being a avid hunter and spending time with his nephew Maurice and friend Donald Brennick at their cabin in Vermont. As a construction worker, Ernest liked to form foundations and even built his own home. Ernest also set up Christmas every year at Sanders. He was also a huge animal lover, having many different pets over his life including his dogs Ben, Duke, and Brandi, and his beloved pig Peteau. Most importantly Ernest and his infectious smile, enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
Ernest is survived by his five children Carol Fairbanks and her husband Charlie of Springfield, VT, Stephen Gagnon and his significant other Lisa Burnelle of Nashua, Ernest Gagnon Jr. and his wife Jodi of Weare, NH, Jason Gagnon and his wife Michelle of Greenville, NH, and Lisa Latourneau and her husband Michael of Nashua, his four grandchildren Michelle Gagnon, Kristan Hibbard and her husband Jacob, Andrew Gagnon, and Sarah Gagnon, his three great grandchildren William Way, Allison Hibbard, and Avianna Roque, as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife Constance, Ernest is predeceased by his son David Gagnon, his siblings Lucille Gagnon, Roger Gagnon, Gerard Gagnon, Albert Gagnon, Maurice Gagnon, and George” Sonny” Jr. Gagnon, his son David Gagnon.
Friends and family are invited to Ernest’s visitation on FRIDAY August 18th, 2023 from 9 UNTIL 10 am at St. Joseph the Worker Parish, 777 West Hollis Street, Nashua. His funeral mass will follow at 10 AM. Interment will take place following mass in St. Louis Cemetery, Nashua.
